Area residents will have a chance to savor South Africa

What Norwalker Yvette De Vries enjoys the most about going back to South Africa, where she grew up, and what she thinks people don't anticipate when they think of all the high-adrenaline kinds of things the country offers, like seeing animals on a safari, is the night sky.

"That is just something you can't imagine if you have never seen it. And the sounds. They aren't something you necessarily dream of when you plan to go, yet people always comment on how they come away with memories of the sounds and that overwhelming night sky," she said during a recent visit to Greenwich-based African Portfolio, a boutique travel company specializing in custom-designed safaris where she has worked as a senior consultant for 12 years.
